A PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN WITH MULTIPLE DISABILITIES
First Children School in Fanwood, NJ has developed a highly specialized program specifically dedicated to meeting the needs of children with multiple challenges.
Transitional Classroom. A dedicated classroom led by a certified teacher who is trained in the principles of ABA and behavioral techniques to enhance the functional needs of students. This ABA program is supervised by our Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Our goal is to enable children to transition back into regular or special needs classrooms in their home districts. TRAINED AND EXPERIENCED STAFF ARE ABLE TO SHADOW CHILDREN IN THEIR PUBLIC SCHOOLS DURING THE TRANSITION AS REQUIRED.
- Curriculum. Curriculum is differentiated depending on the needs of individual children. First Children uses specific curriculum resources supplied by Eden Institute in Princeton, N.J. as well as other state approved curriculum.
- Therapies. Therapies are designed to provide accommodations to meet the individual needs of the children served in the classroom. Children receive group and individual therapy including: speech and language, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and behavior therapy (under the supervision of a certified behavior analyst)
- Parent Assistance. Parents are provided with specific training, including specific positive behavioral techniques, to assist in the transference of skills learned in the classroom to their home and community environments. Our school social worker reaches out to families to help them identify community resources that will accommodate the special needs of these children.
